Commercial property insurer FM announced it will provide eligible clients with an estimated $855 million through its resilience credit program, marking the second consecutive year the mutual insurer has offered a 10% premium offset against eligible policies.

FM attributed the enhanced credit to “extraordinary results and historically low losses” among its policyholder base. The credit will apply as a 10% premium offset against eligible FM policies with renewals or anniversaries between Jan. 1, 2027, and Dec. 31, 2027.

A Mutual Model Tied to Loss Prevention

FM described the resilience credit as a benefit made possible by its mutual ownership structure, in which policyholders are also owners of the company. Malcolm Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of FM, said that when clients invest in loss prevention and achieve strong results, the mutual model allows FM “to support further improvements, creating a powerful circle of resilience.”

The the two consecutive years of enhanced credits reflect “the work our clients do every day to drive lasting protection,” Roberts added.

FM first introduced the resilience credit in 2022, initially focused on addressing climate-related risks, according to the company. In 2025, citing clients’ resilience efforts and historically low losses, FM expanded the program to include operational risks and doubled the credit to 10% from 5%. FM said clients have since used the credit to drive risk improvement results further, prompting the company to offer the 10% offset again for 2027.

Program Scope Expands Beyond Climate Hazards

The resilience credit works alongside FM’s engineering expertise and data and analytics capabilities to help eligible clients implement risk improvement recommendations, according to the company. FM said the expanded program supports action on recommendations involving both climate hazards and operational exposures, broadening its original scope beyond climate-related risk alone.

FM also referenced a separate, record-setting $1.5 billion membership credit announced in April. Together, the company said, the resilience credit and membership credit programs have helped clients strengthen their operations and build greater resilience. FM said the combined initiatives underscore its belief that the majority of property loss is preventable. &
