Risk Strategies Broker Kierstin Johnsen Recognized as a 2022 Fine Arts Power Broker
Kierstin Johnsen, Senior Account Manager, Fine Arts, Risk Strategies
Sporting a bachelor’s degree in art history and a masters in visual arts administration, Kiersten Johnsen is lauded by her clients for her acute understanding of the fine arts sector.
Knowledge is especially important in the fine arts sector where brokers may be placing bespoke policies for hundreds of unique art pieces that need protection during transportation, storage or gallery viewings.
When placing coverage for a 19th century Tiffany Lamp that needed to be shipped across the country, Johnsen’s familiarity with the artist and the subject matter gave her clients confidence in the counsel she provided.
When another client decided to split their collection between two spaces, Johnsen stepped in to help them find coverage when their long-time insurer was slow to reply on their ability to underwrite the risk. “I think it’s rare to find someone who’s as good as she is in terms of customer service in the industry,” the client said.
Johnsen’s knowledge of both the fine arts and insurance spaces enables quick responses. When a client faced their first claim in ten years, they turned to Johnsen for guidance.
The claim occurred on a Friday, and Johnsen had things resolved by Monday. Within another ten days, the claim had been paid. “I completely rely on her,” the client said. “I never asked her a question that she didn’t know the answer to.”
One client summed up how beloved Johnsen is for her services best when he said, “I would like to have her as my insurance broker for as long as I’m working.”
