Amy Thistle
Senior Account Executive
Risk Strategies, Radnor, Penn.

Amy Thistle’s insurance and risk management approach starts with staying informed and up-to-date and sharing market insights with clients.

She knows that health care organizations need solutions tailored to their unique needs. This means educating herself on the intricacies of medical malpractice insurance and communicating regularly with underwriters.

Challenges faced in the medical industry don’t always have a clear-cut solution, they often require a proactive approach.

In one instance, a podiatrist at a New York hospital who another agent represented had his policy canceled due to a non-payment. Despite this, the client continued to see patients and had two claims during that time, and the incumbent carrier was willing to reinstate the policy or offer the option to purchase tail coverage.

The client brings on Thistle’s team to manage the conversation. Thistle was able to leverage relationships, push negotiations further, and agree on terms to reinstatement with prior acts coverage back to 2013.

While the carrier would not provide indemnity coverage for the two claims that were denied because of the filing date, Thistle was able to negotiate $25,000 in defense coverage at no additional cost.
