Improving site health and safety for workers is a vital component of any construction program. That’s where Mark Troxell comes in. He works with clients to identify sustainable and effective ways to enhance their safety performance.

Reflecting this, Troxell helped one client establish minimum health and safety guidelines for all contractors and subcontractors working onsite through its owner-controlled insurance program.

After identifying key exposures, he put greater emphasis on crane management, fall protection, scaffold safety, reduction of struck-by incidents from heavy equipment and vehicles, drug and alcohol testing and establishing a proactive safety culture.

Troxell also helped a large concrete contractor to improve its safety program by performing an extensive review and update to mirror exposures for the work conducted and surveying employees on the current safety standards in place.

After the company completed training updates and changed safety implementation in the field based on employee feedback, Troxell reduced his client’s loss rate from more than $10 per $100 of payroll to 21 cents per $100.

A client, Rory Senseman, safety director at construction firm South State, said, “Mark provides first-class service, is extremely proactive and always exceeds expectations. He’s like a walking encyclopedia on health and safety — whenever I have a question, he knows the answer or can quickly find someone who does.”
