Selective Insurance Group announced that Jacob E. “Jake” Rothfuss will join the company as executive vice president and president, Standard Lines, assuming the role no later than April 2027 when his current contractual obligations end.

“Jake has a proven track record of underwriting excellence, operational leadership, and profitable growth,” said Chairman, President and CEO John J. Marchioni. “He is well-positioned to lead our Standard Lines organization and build on the strong foundation we have established across our Commercial and Personal Lines segments.”

Rothfuss joins from Velocity Risk Underwriters, part of Ryan Specialty Underwriting Managers, where he has served as CEO since 2023, having previously held the roles of president and chief operating officer. Earlier, he spent nearly a decade at Farmers Insurance, ultimately serving as chief operating officer of Business Insurance. He began his career at The Hartford, leading product lines across personal auto, homeowners, and small commercial.

“I have long admired Selective’s culture of underwriting, its strong relationships with independent insurance agencies, and its history of disciplined, profitable growth,” Rothfuss said.

In his new role, Rothfuss will report to Marchioni and lead Selective’s Standard Commercial Lines and Standard Personal Lines businesses. &
