Gallagher Broker Alexis Spoon Recognized as a 2022 Education Power Broker
Alexis Spoon, Area Assistant Vice President, Gallagher
Leading every team to victory is a star quarterback, a person filled with ambition, innovation and the drive to win. Here, that quarterback is Alexis Spoon.
Clients of Spoon commended her knowledge of the education sector, both the K-12 and higher ed spaces, and her responsiveness. But what makes Spoon stand out is her ability to bring her colleagues in to solve issues and remedy the concerns of her clients: “[Alexis] brings her colleagues on, rather than interpreting what they would say or think,” said Heather Taylor, assistant vice president of ERM and Insurance Programs for Grand Valley State University.
Taylor mentioned this strength of Spoon’s enabled “Grand Valley State University [to] stand out among underwriters to receive the cyber coverage they needed,” after its previous broker notified them that they would lose limits and/or be non-renewed.
Locking in cyber coverage for her clients appears to be another specialty Spoon excels at. This was the case for Spoon’s client, the Apollo Career Center. After Spoon analyzed both the market and school coverage needs, she recommended a $1 million coverage plan for each client’s school. “In this day and age, with cyber crime like it is, that was huge,” said Maria Rellinger, CFO of the Apollo Career Center.
Additionally, Spoon provided services and expertise on a variety of educational needs, from “insurance ramifications for a pet therapy dog to securing coverage for a driver’s ed program,” according to Rellinger.
