Aon Broker Tara Mitchell Recognized as a 2022 Entertainment Power Broker
Tara Mitchell, Vice President, Account Executive, Aon
One of the most exciting facets of the entertainment industry is the opportunity to create productions around the world. But, with different countries comes different risk appetites and insurance capabilities. Having a broker who not only understands these variations but can also effectively communicate them to producers is paramount.
Luckily for her clients, Tara Mitchell knows how to do just that. One client, Mike Egan, VP of risk management & insurance for Discovery, Inc., called Mitchell his “eyes and ears outside the U.S.”
“It’s a different situation and environment in every country, what [productions] are used to and what they’re not used to,” Egan said.
Additionally, as the entertainment industry was abruptly hit with COVID-19 shutdowns at the beginning of the pandemic, Mitchell has served as an integral component of Discovery’s claims management. Egan said narrowing down these claims since March 2020 has been challenging, but Mitchell has helped the company make substantial progress.
Discovery began with well over 100 COVID-related claims and has now reduced those claims to around 30-40. Egan credits Mitchell’s communication as a main driver to this reduction. “She’s constantly in contact with various producers all around the world, as well as independent auditors and insurance companies,” he said. “It’s a constant juggle, and she’s been nothing short of outstanding.”
