Mercer Broker Zachary Cardoza Recognized as a 2020 Education Power Broker
Zachary Cardoza, Principal, Senior Consultant III, Mercer
Every risk manager dreads moments of crisis. Many can remember a time when an accident befell their organization and chaos ensued.
They remember exactly where they were when they found out, like an infamous moment in history.
For a client of Zachary Cardoza, principal and senior consultant III, Mercer, this incident stopped them in their tracks.
A student drowned while studying abroad.
After learning of the tragedy, the client’s first call was to Cardoza, who stepped up and notified the carrier. He also set up an immediate conference call for the team at the university to help them figure out the first steps in moving forward.
Another client had a student experience a mental and physical health crisis while abroad. The student was hospitalized, and Cardoza stepped in and worked with the university and the insurance provider to help get the student brought back to the U.S. so that he could receive the level of care he needed.
While tackling these challenges and others, Cardoza has always stepped up to make sure he is available when his clients need him.
“He’s a rare gem. He cares about his job. He cares about his clients. And he always picks up the phone,” Louis Alar, director of environmental health and safety at The Catholic University of America said.
