Aspen Promotes Clive Edwards to Chief Executive Officer, UK Limited and Managing Agency Limited

Aspen Insurance Holdings Limited, a reinsurance and insurance coverage provider, announced the promotion of Clive Edwards to chief executive officer of Aspen Insurance UK Limited (AIUK) and Aspen Managing Agency Limited (AMAL).

He replaces Mike Cain, who has been promoted to group chief underwriting officer.

Before being appointed to his new position, Edwards served as do-chief underwriting officer of AIUK.

Henry McHale and Jamie Lewis have been named co-chief underwriting officers in his place.

“Clive was part of the original team at the outset of Aspen and has continually demonstrated an outstanding capability as an underwriting leader,” said Mark Cloutier, chief executive chairman and group chief executive officer.

“His proven experience and expertise, and the high esteem in which he is held in the UK market, make him very well qualified to take on these roles.”

Rokstone Construction Risk Underwriters, Ltd., a new managing general underwriter specializing in U.S. casualty and builders’ risk services, has announced the creation of a general liability program for contractors and owners.

The announcement comes with the creation of the program’s leadership team.

The team will be led by Michael Pilla, Michael Simone, Richard Isgard and Michael Souery.

Pilla will act as the group’s chief executive officer.

With over 44 years of industry experience, Pilla is known for the development of large construction underwriting authority grants.

He also created a unique set of catastrophe and flood underwriting management tools.

Simone will act as Rokstone’s president, leading with 25 years of underwriting experience under his belt. He has experience in the general liability, automobile and workers’ compensation sectors.

Isgard will take on the role of senior vice president. He is a highly skilled attorney with 30 years of experience handling insurance claims and litigation on general liability, wrap-up builder’s risk, auto, workers’ compensation and surety policies and bonds.

Finally, Souery will serve as chief strategy and analytics officer. He has over 30 years of entrepreneurial leadership in large-scale business transformations.

Souery is skilled in implementing information technology to tackle practical operations.

The new general liability program for contractors and owners was launched “to make the insurance procurement process for General Liability insurance less complicated, less time consuming and more inclusive so that owners and contractors can focus on construction, scheduling, productivity and safety,” Simone stated.

Dykema Welcomes Joanne Zimolzak to its Washington, D.C. Office

Dykema, a national law firm offering advice to business entities on a plethora of complex legal issues, has hired Joanne Zimolzak to its insurance industry group and business litigation practice as a member in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.

Before joining Dykema, Zimolzak practiced at LeClairRyan. Prior to that, she served as the office managing partner For Dentons LLP.

Zimolzak will focus on representing liability insurers in coverage disputes. This includes bad faith allegations and significant potential exposures.

Zimolzak will provide advice to insurers regarding issues of coverage and risk management, emerging liability risks, new product development, and regulatory compliance.

She has experience handling government contracts-related litigation, including contract claims and disputes, fraud matters, and she has conducted related internal investigations.

“Joanne will be a great addition to Dykema’s growing insurance coverage practice in D.C. and nationally,” said Lewis K. Loss, co-director of Dykema’s insurance industry practice group.

“She is a special attorney with the ability to practice at a very high level across multiple practice areas — insurance coverage, government contracts, internal investigations and commercial litigation more generally. We are very pleased to have her as a colleague.”

Notably, Zimolzak currently serves as Chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice.

Shawn Deane Joins Ametros, General Counsel

Ametros, the post-settlement medical administration service for workers’ compensation has hired Shawn Deane, Esq., as general counsel to lead the regulatory and compliance legal team.

Deane is an expert in Medicare secondary payer compliance and frequently speaks at industry events and writes blog posts on compliance.

He most recently served as vice president of Medicare/Medicaid compliance and policy for Verisk/ISO Claims Partners.  Prior to that he practiced healthcare law.

He has more than a decade of experience in property and casualty insurance and workers’ compensation law.

“We are delighted to have Shawn join our team,” said chief financial officer Nicole Sauk.

“His legal background, deep expertise in Medicare and Medicaid compliance, and reputation in the industry make him a great fit for Ametros.

RT Specialty Promotes Kimberly Vincent to Account Executive

RT Specialty, LLC’s National Environmental and Construction Professional Liability Practice has promoted Kimberly Vincent to account executive.

Vincent has worked with senior staff to identify and develop best-possible risk management strategies for the business’s ever-growing base of agents, brokers and clients with with the ECP team for the past five years.

Prior to joining RT Specialty, Vincent worked with BCG Advisors, Westrope Insurance Managers and others.

“Since joining our team in 2014, Kim has dedicated herself to learning the industry and meeting the needs of our national customer base,” said John J. Heft, senior vice president, National Environmental and Construction Professional Liability Practice.

“Kim is a seasoned veteran, who has increasingly taken on more responsibility at every turn.

Risk Strategies Adds Brad Gabbard to National Health Care Practice

Risk Strategies, a privately held national insurance broker and risk management firm, has hired Brad W. Gabbard, CPCU, as senior vice president to its national health care practice.

Gabbard is a health care industry veteran most recently serving as executive vice president and health care practice leader for Willis Towers Watson’s Columbus, OH office.

“Risk Strategies’ health care practice is committed to hiring and retaining the best experts in the business in order to deliver superior service and advice to health care clients across the spectrum of risk,” said Bob Dubraski, Risk Strategies’ national health care practice leader.
