In2Risk offers insurance and leadership education alongside unique networking opportunities.

Resilience, growth, and adaptability were woven throughout many of the educational sessions at the CPCU Society’s 2025 In2Risk in New Orleans, a city that mirrors these themes through its story of robust, sustainable rebuilding after catastrophic loss.

One thousand two hundred attendees from 10 countries came together at the event for trending education, CE credits, and networking opportunities.

The event began with an opening reception at Mardi Gras World, which is a 40,000 square foot complex where Mardi Gras floats are constructed and stored throughout the year and culminated in a conferment ceremony for new CPCU designees and closing reception with entertainment, New Orleans-style food, and even an alligator named Gumbo!

Educational Sessions Covered Trending Topics in AI, Leadership, and Coverage

A hallmark of In2Risk is offering trending insurance education. This year, 90 expert speakers delivered content over 44 educational sessions, some of which provided attendees with state CE credit. Sessions were delivered via panels, interactive workshops, 15-minute express talks, and unplugged discussions with topics ranging from leadership to technical. Several sessions covered the technology, scaling, and evolution of AI from different angles.

“While Agentic AI is a major focus in a lot of insurance events lately, it is really the transformation of insurance and the value that the industry can drive that is key,” said Rajesh Narayan, CPCU, Vice President, P&C Insurance Product and Underwriting at Value Momentum.

“At In2Risk the business discussions centered around how could we accelerate product development, make underwriting more about understanding the risk, exposure and client and less on admin tasks and finally building true relationships with the broker, agent and customer to serve them with the right insurance products and close the protection gap. Gen AI, Advanced Analytics and Agentic AI help in all of the above, but the conversation needs to start with the goals that really matter.”

In2Risk brings RMI students into the mix through its student program, helping to provide them with new opportunities to learn and network with existing leaders in the insurance industry through unique experiences. Some of these experiences include being assigned a mentor during In2Risk, participating in speed networking sessions, and working alongside industry leaders to introduce sessions and sit on panels.

Tessa Lodewyk, RMI Student Assistant at UCD Business School and member of the Student Advisory Council for Gamma Iota Sigma, described a pivotal moment of her In2Risk experience: “In2Risk 2025 reminded me that the most intimidating challenges often lead to the deepest growth.

Hearing James Lawrence’s story and being surrounded by the warmth of this incredible community gave me the courage to face one of my own fears — speaking in front of a crowd on the ‘Talent at Risk’ panel. As a student, this experience was especially impactful as I prepare to launch into my professional career.”

Lawrence is known as The Iron Cowboy, an endurance athlete and inspirational speaker known for completing 100 IRONMANs in 100 consecutive days. His story of resilience resonated with the room of risk and insurance professionals as he described managing the physical, mental, financial, and social risks of meeting his goal.

His unwavering belief in himself brought him to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro on a bicycle and to the finish lines of 100 IRONMAN races.

Lawrence has said, “The secret to success is doing a lot of little things consistently over a long period of time,” a theme which was well-understood by CPCU designees and those studying for exams.

Before his keynote, Lawrence joined 48 attendees for an early-morning run/walk along the riverfront, a longstanding CPCU tradition at In2Risk.

Networking and Celebrating New CPCU Designees

Each year, thousands of insurance professionals complete industry education courses and designation programs. Here are the 2025 metrics:

  • 1,726 new CPCU designees
  • 1,539 new AIC (Associate in Claims) designees
  • 1,317 new ARM (Associate in Risk Management) designees
  • 459 new AU (Associate in Commercial Underwriting) designees

In addition to celebrating these new designation holders, In2Risk provides a forum where industry professionals can grow and expand their networks with a diverse group.

New CPCU designee, Alma Crump, CPCU, Senior Commercial Surety Underwriter at Crum & Forster, spoke about the networking opportunities at In2Risk: “As a first-time attendee to In2Risk, I was blown away by the diversity in backgrounds of those I met. This wasn’t “just” an insurance event. I met individuals involved in risk management, government relations, fitness, consulting, higher education, authors and even other surety professionals! Opportunities to network were strategic and provided time for true connection that initiated relationships that I can build upon throughout my career.”

First-time attendee Patrick O’Mara described his networking experience at In2Risk: “Having participated in my first In2Risk Conference, I saw how important it is to get to know other folks in the insurance industry. I met many wonderful people who also turned out to be great professional resources. Thanks to In2Risk for helping me find my tribe!” Patrick O’Mara, CPCU, Subrogation Analyst at State Farm.
