Darren Tasker, head of energy and construction, North America, for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty, spoke to Dan Reynolds, the editor in chief of Risk & Insurance, at the RIMS conference in Atlanta.

Tasker outlined his company’s appetite for growth in builder’s risk and manufacturing, among other areas.

As part of an emerging and ongoing interest on the part of The Institutes (of which Risk & Insurance is an affiliate) in predicting and preventing losses, Reynolds asked Tasker if he is seeing any evidence of Predict & Prevent™ technologies gaining traction.

Tasker reported that he is seeing a growing interest on the part of builders and property owners in water sensors that can catch leaks and other issues before they become a full-blown water damage loss.

Tasker also spoke to the shifting insurance market as many carriers exit Nat CAT-exposed risks and turn their attention to non-Nat CAT property business. Tasker said he is confident his group can differentiate itself in this environment due to its strong technical underwriting background and experience.
