World-class client service starts with knowing a client and understanding their priorities and preferences, explained Laurie Champion in her application.

This includes effective client and stakeholder relationships; understanding each client’s business, strategy, and risk profile; and commitment to deliver resources and innovation needed to meet clients’ unique business needs.

Champion asks important questions that a client might not think to ask, explained Jon Gulford, PMO manager, organization, at PowerCo Canada.

“I know Laurie through my role at PowerCo Canada as we worked to ensure the appropriate insurance policies were in place for a new Canadian plant,” Gulford said. “Upon reviewing information and documentation related to our project, Laurie takes great care to ensure that PowerCo is aware of risks in the many forms they can take, and suggestions in how we can address or mitigate them.”

Champion is also a volunteer with Scouting America, one of the oldest and largest youth-serving organizations in the U.S. Scouting America serves approximately one million youth ages five to 21 each year, through over 200 local councils.

Over the past year, Champion led efforts to improve scouting’s key insurance programs she assisted scouting with development of enhanced risk mitigation strategies.

“Laurie’s style and demeanor is superb,” said Joseph Zirkman, general counsel for Scouting America. “She simply always does whatever it takes to get the job done.”
