Financial markets are in constant flux as new players introduce innovative ways to do business that create challenges for insurance brokers in the process. Courtney Guerette, vice president at Marsh, makes sure that clients remain protected while everything changes around them.
For example, Guerette helped a fintech client to arrange new limits for its D&O program, after a successful IPO exponentially increased the company’s exposures. She was tasked with finding an additional $65M in limits, with a mandate to secure no warranty language, in the space of a month. The rush was necessary because the company wanted new terms and conditions available for a board meeting immediately after the public offering took place.
Guerette worked to sell the risk to dozens of carriers; while convincing nine of them to accept new limits to what the company’s risk manager calls a “very significant D&O tower” – all while securing lower premiums than projected. “Without a broker who is super organized and results-oriented, it would not have worked,” said the risk manager.
Guerette also obtained better D&O and E&O rates and conditions for an asset management firm by replacing a mutual-sponsored liability tower with a policy negotiated with commercial markets.
