Marsh Broker Michael Jackisch Recognized as a 2021 Education Power Broker
Michael Jackisch, Senior Account Executive, Marsh
Like most brokers in the education sector, Michael Jackisch was facing an uphill battle, shopping for adequate levels of coverage at an acceptable price in a hardening market.
His deep industry expertise and knowledge of the marketplace enabled him to build custom solutions where existing ones no longer worked.
“Our coverage contracts were in need of significant rewording due to seismic shifts in the marketplace over the last few years. Mike was new to our program, yet he jumped in and led this project by initiating discussions with our excess carriers, surveying the industry, working with outside counsel, and communicating to the underwriting committee and board of directors the necessary changes,” said Ben Coffman, director of risk management, environmental, health & safety, Central Michigan University.
Another university director of risk management described how Jackisch solved workers’ comp issues that arose when the school acquired a health care institution, obtaining policies separate from the university’s self-insured structure to ensure full coverage and compliance with state law.
“Mike has become my trusted resource for insurance and larger risk discussions. Not only does he understand the insurance marketplace, he is also experienced with risk retention groups and contract construction in higher education. Mike makes himself available regularly to discuss concerns,” Coffman said.
