Marsh Broker Brian Gauss Recognized as a 2020 Workers’ Comp Power Broker
Brian Gauss, Senior Vice President, Marsh
Clients of Brian Gauss say he’s a full-service broker who exceeds expectations in every area, from helping to reduce claims frequency and costs to resolving tricky claims.
“Brian is the best of the best of the best,” said one risk manager, who places a high value on Gauss’s background and experience as a former claims adjuster at Travelers.
“He cares so much about his clients, and he knows his stuff better than anyone I know,” the client said.
Gauss received praise for his tenacity and his refusal to rest until he’s secured the best possible outcome for a client.
“He doesn’t just answer your questions,” said the client, “he digs for those answers.”
Gauss put that tenacity into action during a review of some of a client’s open workers’ compensation claims.
He noticed that a number of claims breached the client per-claim retention and entered the excess carrier’s layer, so he began to investigate further.
What he found out was that his client was not being reimbursed by the excess carriers on a large number of open and closed claims.
Gauss rolled up his sleeves and dove deep into the policy, clarifying the excess carrier’s terms for reimbursement. He led a large-scale excess recovery project that resulted in a $1.5 million-dollar recovery for the client.
