Ben Geffen likes a challenge and has tackled many on behalf of his clients.

Geffen recently got coverage for a client that had acquired an entity with a history of providing little information to insurers and poor risk management controls.

He helped the client understand how challenging the renewal would be so they could communicate that to their board and agree upon a clear strategy.

Nineteen of 22 insurers did not renew their capacity on the acquired entity’s existing cyber program, which meant there were a minimal number of insurers left to approach in the market.

Geffen reviewed the current cyber program to identify any coverage that could be placed with non-cyber insurers. He also helped the client prepare targeted oral and written submissions for insurers, including two group presentations, multiple calls, four proposal forms and responses to 58 questions.

In a market where limits are being reduced, Geffen reports he was able to achieve about a $30 million limit for the client.

Another of his clients, Christophe Lutterbuese, head of global credit risk and general insurance at Dentsu International Limited, said Geffen stands out in a tough arena.

“Given the difficult cyber market this year, Ben had to restructure our tower which he successfully did. He’s done a sterling job for us,” he said.
