Aon Broker Ray Battle Recognized as a 2026 Consumer Products Power Broker
Ray Battle, Senior Vice President, Aon
When a regional grocery chain began exploring the potential for automated warehousing, it found it had a lot to learn. For lessons on insurance and risk management, the chain turned to Ray Battle.
“He has been able to provide a lot of guidance on what we need to be doing to protect those facilities so that insurance companies are actually willing to take them on,” a risk manager for the chain said. Battle’s suggestions included tweaking the way warehouse robots respond if the sprinkler system activates, according to the risk manager.
Rather than returning home, and potentially spreading a fire, the robots freeze in place. Battle also secured a premium decrease last year for the chain, which was expecting its spending on property coverage to be flat based on its recent growth.
Battle delivered similar results for a national retailer. Not only was the retailer’s premium decrease greater than expected, but Battle also closed a critical coverage gap for the company. And he procured an alternative risk offering that allows the company to recover a significant share of its premiums if there are no losses.
“He is a good listener to what our strategic goals are as a company but also as a risk management team,” the risk manager said.
“What I value in a broker is somebody who’s not just trying to place the biggest deal or keep all their underwriters happy, but who listens to what our goals are and then helps us achieve those in the marketplace.”
