Aon Broker Michael Pope Recognized as a 2022 Pharmaceuticals Power Broker
Michael Pope, Vice President & Team Leader, Aon
For Michael Pope, the way to deliver optimal results for clients is through effective communication and clear understanding of expectations.
For each of Pope’s clients, it is his goal to understand their pressures and objectives so that he can advise them appropriately and represent them in the marketplace as a critical branch of their risk management team.
As Chad Morin, manager, insurance analyst and claims at Scientific Games, explained, Pope managed his company’s casualty lines renewals for many years.
“He is systematic in his approach and flexible with our company’s unpredictable tempo and solutions,” Morin said. “He meets our demands and expectations [for] each renewal. Mike does a great job of representing our company’s performance as it relates to our industry and Aon’s book of business.”
Indeed, Pope worked with a global financial institution that had been faced with large CAT workers’ compensation premiums due to high employee concentration in the New York City, New Jersey and Tennessee areas over the last decade.
With most employees working remotely during the pandemic, Pope’s client could not justify the premium spend. Pope was able to successfully negotiate the incumbent carrier’s renewal quote down to the carrier’s reinsurance minimum, then implemented a premium adjustment scale based on repopulation percentages.
