Aon Broker Andy Blankenship Recognized as a 2021 Real Estate Power Broker
Andy Blankenship, Los Angeles Property Team Leader, Aon
Low deductibles on its real estate holdings are a long-standing preference for one large public pension fund in the U.S.
But a hardening market threatened to put that preference out of reach. Andy Blankenship had anticipated the problem and got to work early on potential solutions.
He helped craft an alternative structure involving an aggregate retention, leading to a successful insurance placement. The solution required tact as well as creativity. Blankenship pitched in to help persuade pension fund managers to get on board with the structure, said a risk manager with the fund.
“He’s very knowledgeable and always gives me the straight up as far as the good, the bad and the ugly on conditions in the marketplace,” the risk manager said. “He’s been a real valuable asset.”
Another client describes Blankenship as “an extraordinary teacher.”
“I’ve learned an enormous amount by working with him over the years and remain in awe of all the intricacies of the insurance world,” the client said, noting Blankenship has repeatedly come through on difficult property renewals.
“He has demonstrated the most professionalism, the highest of patience and vast creativity to get these projects bound year over year. Each year brings new challenges and each one is matched with a solution or recommendation from Mr. Blankenship.”
