Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is on a mission to become more accessible to more businesses. A few key initiatives in 2019 will help them get there, and Christine Springob will lead the charge. Springob was promoted to head sales North America in February 2018 from her role as head key account management.

“I’ve always enjoyed the interaction with clients and brokers that comes with working in a sales function,” Springob said. “I wanted to expand on that and broaden our relationships, and in the head sales role, I’ve been able to do that.”

One of the initiatives Springob will spearhead in 2019 is expansion into the middle market. In addition to expanding its client base, “we also want to lead lines of business,” Springob said. “We’ll be much lower down in attachment points to take the primary lead on accounts, whereas traditionally we’ve been more an excess and shared-layer player.”

Building a capability to front international business is also on the agenda. Corporate Solutions has historically relied on an external network to provide international products, but “we’re gearing up for 2019 when we’ll be able to do that on our own network,” Springob said. “We’re starting with property where we’re most comfortable, but our next step will be to expand into other segments like marine and financial lines.”

Superior customer service will be critical to attract and retain new business, especially amid a competitive market that shows no signs of letting up in the near future.

“Market competitiveness is our greatest external challenge,” Springob said. “We have been working extensively to get the message out there that we’re dedicated to and capable of executing a high level of service.” &
