As a government services contractor, Amentum takes on projects with fairly complicated risks.

They can be tough to explain to underwriters, and some even involve classified matters, said Stephen Easley, senior director of risk management for the company, which is based in Chantilly, Va. David Earl has done a “phenomenal job” in getting underwriters to understand those complexities, Easley said.

Over the last several years, Earl has helped Amentum manage its insurance program through a series of acquisitions including a pair of deals in 2024 that closed after the company’s insurance program was renewed.

Earl worked side-by-side with the company’s risk management and information security teams to ensure the renewal accounted for the then-pending transactions.

“He was able to navigate that process even as we brought in new complexities,” Easley said, noting that Amentum was also pleased with the pricing.

Earl delivers even when time is tight. He replaced another broker, for example, two months ahead of the renewal date for a consulting firm’s cyber and E&O policies. “We were able to really customize our presentation, and it turned out great,” the executive said. The firm ended up slashing its premium in half, said the executive, who praised Earl’s dedication and work ethic. “We certainly felt like David had much more of our interests at heart.”
