When one of Alexandra Redfern’s clients began his own private art collection, he soon realized a “regular” home insurance policy wouldn’t cover it.

The client had to think about who could help with such a task — and Redfern was top of mind.

“She walked me through what needed to be done, picked up additional wording, showed me the opportunities I had to cover the work.”

Redfern even helped get his work evaluated in the middle of COVID, arranging for a remote appraisal. “Each year the values go up, and so Alex made certain we had appropriate limits,” the client said.

Elizabeth Pence, retired state risk manager for the State of Arizona, has also been the recipient of Redfern’s great work.

In 1985, Willem De Kooning’s ‘Women-Ochre’ was stolen from the University of Arizona Museum of Art. And for 31 years, it remained lost. However, thanks to a good Samaritan in New Mexico, the painting was returned home, but not without some logistics to take care of: “The painting needed to be transported from New Mexico back to Arizona,” Pence explained.

“Although an appraisal hadn’t been completed, the value was estimated at $75 million or more.”

Redfern stepped in.

“She was able to get us the coverage limits needed for the secured transport.”

That’s not all she’s done for UA. “We have world class photography collections, scientific collections with 1,000-year-old artifacts and other one-of-akind pieces,” Pence said. Redfern always recommends the right fine arts coverage to protect these items.
