When it comes to injury probability, restaurants have to be right up there with construction and other injury-prone professions.

All it takes is one cook hustling behind the line to hit a grease spot and boom! He could be down with a head injury.

As you may know, workers’ comp premium rates are based on what’s called an experience modification. The higher your rate of injury, the higher your premium. One of Andy Pettise’s restaurant clients was in a bind, paying 2.81 times more than the average, based on its loss history.

Through his safety training efforts and hands-on customer service approach, that percentage dropped to 0.86 of the average.

“Andy Pettise has worked miracles for us,” said Jennifer Dart Clark, an executive secretary for Silver King Enterprises. And for a miracle worker, he is very easy to get in touch with. When Dart Clark needs him, he responds.

“Within an hour, he always gets back to us. As a customer, when you get that back, just that contact makes you feel like he really does care. It’s not just a job. We just love him.”

Pettise previously owned restaurants. He knows the business.

“He was on our side of the business for many years, so he knows what we are going through,” said another grateful client.

For that client, Pettise dropped the experience mod from 120% to 65%. That’s a money saver, but more importantly, it means that workers are safer.
