Peter Tallerico
Area Vice President
Gallagher, St Clair Shores, Mich.
Peter Tallerico thinks like an owner, bringing a well-informed perspective to multifamily and affordable housing insurance. A University of Michigan graduate, he’s helped deliver 4,200 units and $1 billion in affordable housing projects, working across complex funding layers including LIHTC, Project-Based Section 8, CDBG, HOME, AHP, FHLB, and PA5 programs. His hands-on development experience gives him an instinctive understanding for how clients think about risk, pricing, lender requirements, and operational pressure.
Tallerico further distinguishes himself by pairing technical insurance knowledge with a deep understanding of the financial and structural realities of affordable housing.
James Gromer, general counsel for Continental Management, described Tallerico as exceptionally smart, honest, responsive “even in the middle of the night,” and uniquely capable of solving a wide range of issues. Gromer noted their organization has faced weekly challenges over five years — and Tallerico has resolved each one, from complex general liability and property claims to coverage issues and lender-driven deductible disputes that “I never thought could be resolved. We saved money with little risk,” Gromer said.
Tallerico’s approach centers on proactive communication, tailored policy analysis, and aligning programs with lender and syndicator expectations. He recently redesigned the insurance program for a national multifamily owner with more than 25,000 units, consolidating coverage, correcting gaps, improving pricing, and resolving claims issues.
