Gallagher Broker Paul Pousson Recognized as a 2020 Education Power Broker
Paul Pousson, Managing Director, Higher Education Practice, Gallagher
A former higher education risk manager, Paul Pousson, now managing director of the higher education practice at Gallagher, knows a lot about the unique risks that universities face.
He’s helped clients place everything from property and auto coverage to cyber liability insurance.
“He is someone who understands the true needs of risk managers in higher education. He has stepped into the broker role with the mindset of always helping the client first. It doesn’t matter if it’s 10 o’clock at night,” a client said.
Pousson helped this client place property coverage for the university. By suggesting that the university go to carriers and market its program, he was able to help attract insurers which “didn’t have serious interest in our university before.”
“He went above and beyond in terms of thinking outside the box and suggesting our university present their story to carriers,” the client said.
For another client, Pousson worked to help it transition to a self-funded program.
“Paul has walked us through a new self-funded automobile program,” said Steve Bryant, managing director for the office of risk management at the Texas Tech University System.
“With his guidance and help it’s been a really smooth process. His knowledge of how colleges and universities operate is intimate.”
