2024 was one of the toughest marketplaces in the last 15 years for crane insurance, but it’s Cameron Boots’ area of expertise.

Reduced capacity options for excess liability drove a recent spike in large claim settlements throughout the industry. To help his clients, Boots and his team performed market reviews and helped manage expectations for costly property and casualty programs well in advance of renewals.

He also shared Power BI data — a collection of software services, apps and data that work together to turn unrelated sources of information into coherent insights — on rate performance by crane-focused insurance carriers with crane companies and their prospective insurance carriers.

He kept clients informed through his recently launched Beer & Boots Podcast, which focuses on the crane, rigging and heavy hauls space. It has 600 followers currently.

“As far as navigating the crane market, he’s been there for us,” said Brandy Kress, CFO, Guy M. Turner.

“It’s a difficult market to be in with these million-dollar cranes and with navigating the insurance market. He has fought for us in getting coverage and has always gone to the correct markets. He’s someone to count on.”

Boots’ suggestion that Guy M. Turner participate in an insurance captive was on the money: “We went into an insurance captive with like-minded trucking, crane and heavy haul businesses and we are so happy to be in that,” Kress said. “It has been a good move for us financially.”
