Aon Broker William Coleman Recognized as a 2026 M&A Power Broker
William Coleman, Managing Director, Aon

William Coleman
Managing Director
Aon, Pittsburgh
Much of William Coleman’s work includes proactively educating clients to prepare for due diligence deliverables and underwriting calls. For a client like Hull Street, known to move fast on M&A transactions, his approach has proved critical, particularly on a recent large cross-border acquisition involving “significant international exposure and a complex structure change between signing and closing due to tax implications.”
Working closely with another client, Wabtec, Coleman has helped with several transformational M&A transactions. Often the deal teams’ members were less familiar with R&W. In light of this, Coleman helped draft an R&W deal playbook to ensure everyone understood the processes, requirements, and procedures involved. By setting clear expectations and maintaining open communication with both Wabtec and the insurer, Coleman guided the team through an efficient underwriting process. He leveraged Aon’s market presence, secured a 10 to 15% premium savings for Wabtec on what was otherwise a challenging placement. The client appreciated the clarity and efficiency throughout the process.
“Bill’s been very critical to our M&A activity, setting up our policy and security questions for us, and providing the guidance that we need to make transactional decisions. He’s always available, anytime of the day or night, and I rely on him as atrusted advisor,” Wabtec’s risk manager said.
