Aon Broker Sean Connelly Recognized as a 2021 International Power Broker
Sean Connelly, SVP & Team Lead, Aon
Sean Connelly navigated many challenges in 2020, not the least of which was the hardening D&O market.
His clients are large international firms with complex and varying coverage needs, and COVID-19 further complicated things for many.
One client began its renewal meetings in March just as the lockdowns began around the world, pushing everyone to do business differently. The client noted the renewal was particularly challenging, but it was able to successfully renew “largely due to the hard work and tenacity of Sean.”
The client faced an extremely hard D&O market with the added challenge of being a Bermuda-based entity seeking coverage in the London market.
The client explained that while its premiums increased, it was still happy with the result and considered it a success.
Praising Connelly, the client said, “This could only be possible due to the outstanding trust relationship we have with Sean.”
Another large client was facing a significant challenge this year with securing sufficient capacity while also mitigating the premium impact from the hardening market. By going into the renewal early, Connelly and his team identified $100 million in capacity that was expected to be vacated and found solutions through focusing on his client’s priorities.
In the end, Connelly was able to successfully renew the client’s full $400 million program under budget, the result of coordinating 30+ insurers over four countries.
