Aon Broker Anne Mulholland Recognized as a 2021 Public Sector Power Broker
Anne Mulholland, Director, National Casualty, Aon
Anne Mulholland was lauded for her professionalism and her power of negotiation.
As Sheri Swain, director of ERM, Maricopa Community College District, described, she knew it would be a tough renewal when it came to SAM and TBI coverage this year.
“We knew going in there was a chance we could lose or have to lower our SAM and TBI coverages,” Swain said. Mulholland fought hard for her client, going back for negotiations over and over.
“I think it was six to eight times in the end, until she knew she’d gotten us the best limits possible,” Swain said. “I’m pretty sure she burned the midnight oil for weeks leading up to renewal just to get us the things we needed and on time.”
Sally Alexander, director, and CRO, Office of Risk Management and Insurance at Colorado State University, said, “It’s easy for brokers to get kudos in a soft market. I think a marker of a superb broker is great service in a difficult market.”
As a place of higher education, CSU and its risk team are no strangers to tightening capacity.
“Not all underwriters are interested in writing the risks for higher ed,” Alexander explained. But Mulholland acted as a phenomenal asset for the university this year upon its renewal in August. Mulholland was able to help restructure Alexander’s liability program and renewed it at the same limits this year.
“We heavily relied on Anne’s knowledge of what the market could and could not do during what I would call the horrendous renewal landscape that was 2020,” Alexander said.
