Theo Awards 2026: In Conversation with Continental Tire

Continental Tire and Enlyte explain how triaging every claim at first report helps spot the complex 15% that drive most workers’ comp costs.

What if 15% of your claims were driving the vast majority of your workers’ compensation costs, and you could spot them on day one? That insight sits at the center of Continental Tire’s program redesign. Mark Taylor, Workers’ Compensation Manager at Continental Tire, and Dawn Moore, Vice President of Operations at Enlyte, explain why swapping vendors was never the goal: the company used a TPA RFP as the moment to rethink how the entire program operates.

Continental now triages 100% of claims at the point of injury reporting, because complexity does not announce itself on day one. Moore’s example: a 21-year-old with diabetes and hypertension may need far more support than a healthy 61-year-old with the same injury. The aim is to assign the right clinical resource to each claim, from telephonic case management to a field nurse, rather than the same intervention for everyone. Employee surveys rank the telephonic case managers among the program’s best-performing elements, and two dedicated nurses have blended into the site teams. Taylor sees the financial payoff in fewer attorneys: when employees feel supported, representation rates fall, and that is where much of the savings comes from.

Watch the full interview to discover the performance guarantee that took any doubt about savings off the table, why Taylor believes a TPA transformation should never be rushed, and what happens to an injured employee’s recovery when a new adjuster steps into the middle of a claim. &
