Alliant Insurance Services Broker Joe Cafferelli Recognized as a 2022 Health Care Power Broker
Joe Cafferelli, Executive Vice President, Alliant Insurance Services
The most successful startups are often the ones that figure out how to do things differently. But that can also make them difficult to insure.
“It was a challenge when we were first getting started, especially during COVID,” said Jeff Spight, CEO of Mind 24-7.
“Who’s going to underwrite a startup behavioral health entity? It’s not like we have ten other groups outside that look like what we do. We have a unique approach to the market.”
Luckily, Joe Cafferelli of Alliant Insurance knows how to do things differently, as well.
“I actually never worry that we’re not going to figure it out. It’s kind of a given that he’ll always figure out some path, some options, some way that we can make it work,” Spight said.
In this case, that meant looking outside the U.S. and knowing the client and the coverages well enough to put together a package uniquely suited to this client—so well suited that it became a competitive advantage.
“Everybody is trying to compete for hiring the same clinicians, nurses, staff,” Spight said.
“We put together a package that’s become a real recruiting weapon for us, that really distinguishes us … the value that we get is a multiple of what we’re spending in terms of retention and recruiting and just general team-member happiness.”
