Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Appoints Tina Baacke as Global Head Risk of Engineering Services

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions announced the hiring of Tina Baacke as global head risk, engineering services.

Baacke brings 20 years of experience, both in the insurance industry and consulting, to her new role with Swiss Re.

Prior to joining Swiss Re, she served as a global head of risk consulting for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty. Additionally, Baacke brings experience in catastrophe risk management.

“We are thrilled to attract and welcome a talent like Tina to our team. She is a seasoned leader with a proven track record in helping customers develop and refine their approach to risk resiliency and risk management,” said Kera McDonald, chief underwriting officer.

Catalina Holdings Announces Several New Appointments

Catalina Holdings announced three new appointments: Tony Cunningham and Chris Harris are both hired as independent non-executive directors and Fiona Walden as RenaissanceRe’s non-executive director.

Cunningham is a seasoned actuary who brings substantial experience as a senior business advisor to Catalina. His most previous role was as non-executive director at Liberty Holdings.

Harris brings 25 years of insurance industry experience, which includes work as both a senior executive and board member. He previously worked for Montpelier Re Holdings as the company’s CEO.

Walden carries 15 years of structured finance and credit underwriting experience to her new role with Catalina. Her most recent role was as the senior vice president, global head of credit at Ren Re.

Chris Fagan, chief executive of Catalina, said, “We have significantly strengthened our board over the last 18 months. Tony, Chris and Fiona will further add to this and bring valuable experience to our board discussions.”

Xceedance to Expand Actuarial and Analytics Services

Xceedance recently announced its plans of expanding its global actuarial and analytics services practice, with Matthew Duke, senior vice president and chief actuary leading the initiative. This growth comes with Xceedance’s goal to correlate its services with the objectives of insurance organizations.

Duke brings 15 years of leadership experience in the actuarial and analytics sector to Xceedance. Prior to joining the company, he worked at Blackboard Insurance as head of pricing and growth analytics.

“Matthew looks at actuarial services from a business perspective first,” said Manish Khetan, COO of North America operations at Xceedance.

“His approach to maximizing the value of the insurance actuarial function can be transformational for large companies looking to streamline and focus operations. Small to mid-size insurance companies, which may not have the bandwidth to truly take advantage of progressive actuarial services, can also benefit from the Xceedance offering.”

Marsh Announces Hiring of Carlos Quinteros to Lead Construction Initiatives

Marsh recently hired Carlos Quinteros to head the Los Angeles Construction Center of Excellence. In this new role, Quinteros will be responsible for providing Marsh’s “transactional and advisory services to construction clients throughout Southern California.”

Prior to his appointment with Marsh, Quinteros worked with Aon for 27 years, where he most recently served as the lead of Aon’s Los Angeles residential & real estate development group.

Commenting on the appointment, PacificSouth corporate leader Steven Wiens said, “Deep industry knowledge and expertise are among Marsh’s greatest assets and play a key role in our ability to deliver differentiated value to our clients.

Beecher Carlson Announces Hire of Oren Wortman as Managing Director

Beecher Carlson Insurance Services recently announced the appointment of Oren Wortman as managing director of the national cyber practice.

In this role, Wortman will assist both risk managers and technology professionals in the development of return investment for risk mitigation solutions.

Wortman brings 25 years of technology and cyber risk experience to his new role with Beecher Carlson. Prior to his new role, he worked as the director of cyber operations, North America for Sygnia.

“Each client is different, and no two networks are the same,” commented Kerns.

“Understanding the threat environment and how a company’s IT security posture relates to their probability of incurring a cyber event is key to developing the right program at the right price. Oren’s experience will elevate our ability to help provide this for our clients.”

Ushur Announces New Senior Leadership Hire with John Lepore

Ushur announced the hiring of John Lepore as global head of solutions engineering.

In this role, Lepore and his team will be responsible for maintaining the overall success of Ushur’s customers, especially with any “digital transformation challenges” that may arise.

Lepore, a senior software executive, joins Ushur after working at Pegasystems for the last 12 years.

Through his work at Pegasystems, he served in several leadership roles, which included managing director of solutions consulting and vice president of digital strategy for service provider BP3 Global.

“John is the kind of leader every fast-growing software company looks for,” said Simha Sadasiva, CEO of Ushur.
