CRC Group Appoints Angela Alaniz as Chief Digital Officer, Commercial Solutions

Angela Alaniz has been appointed to the role of chief digital officer for the commercial solutions division at CRC Group.

Neil Kessler, president and chief operating officer of CRC Group, expressed his anticipation for the future, stating, “Under Angela’s leadership, we have been leading the way within our space on data and analytics. I’m excited to see what the next chapter in our journey holds with Angela at the helm.”

Alaniz, who has been with CRC Group since 2010, previously served as senior vice president of digital solutions. In this role, she focused on enhancing the wholesaler’s sales process by developing proprietary digital tools.

Alaniz’s new role will involve leveraging the organization’s data to deliver better insights and outcomes to clients, according to a press release.

Michelle Allen Joins MEMIC as SVP and Chief Human Resources Officer

Michelle Allen has been appointed as the new senior vice president and chief human resources officer at MEMIC, stepping into her role following the retirement of Catherine F. Lamson.

MEMIC president and CEO, Michael P. Bourque, praised Allen, stating, “Her combination of experience, skills, and personality make her a great fit for our team, and I am excited for her to begin work with us as we scale the business for expansion and greater success.”

Allen brings extensive experience in human resources, having held officer-level HR positions for 15 years.

She most recently served as executive vice president at Androscoggin Bank, where she led a transformation that is said to have elevated employee engagement and led to the achievement of B Corp™ certification.

In her new role at MEMIC, Allen is expected to lead similar initiatives, and leverage her expertise to support MEMIC’s vision for the future.

Risk Strategies Names Drew Carnase as Chief Operating Officer, Commercial Lines

Risk Strategies has appointed Drew Carnase as chief operating officer, commercial lines.

“Drew is an innovative leader with a strong history of successfully managing large teams, resolving complex challenges, and delivering new solutions that meet clients’ evolving needs,” said John Scroope, national director of retail operations, Risk Strategies.

Carnase brings nearly 30 years of insurance industry experience, having managed commercial lines operations across the country. Prior to joining Risk Strategies two years ago, he served as president of commercial operations at OneBeacon Insurance and senior vice president at Chubb.

In his new role, Carnase will focus on scaling and optimizing Risk Strategies’ commercial lines operations, integrating newly acquired companies, and enhancing the services available to clients.

“I am looking forward to collaborating with our talented team of commercial, industry, and product specialists across the country to build a differentiated commercial lines operation that can consistently deliver a superior client experience,” Carnase said.

Claudia Valencia Appointed as Allianz Commercial’s Global Head of Portfolio Solutions

Starting January 8, 2024, Claudia Valencia will take on the role of global head of portfolio solutions at Allianz Commercial.

Allianz Commercial’s chief underwriting officer Shanil Williams expressed her enthusiasm for Valencia’s appointment, stating, “The commercial and specialty market continues to grow in this area and therefore the time is right to bring a coherent global strategy across all our business. Claudia has extensive global experience in both underwriting and distribution roles, and I am delighted to have her on board.”

In her new role, Valencia will be responsible for driving the global strategy for portfolio solutions, including panels, facilities, MGAs, Bancassurance, and other forms of delegated authority.

Valencia brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles, including her most recent position as Latin America regional head of client and broker engagement at AIG. Her career has spanned various internationally based underwriting and market-facing leadership roles with insurers such as AIG, Zurich, and others in London, Miami, New York, and Colombia.

Mike Jones Joins XPT Specialty as Senior Vice President, Underwriter/Broker in New Orlando Office

XPT Specialty has announced the appointment of Mike Jones as its senior vice president, underwriter/broker. Jones will lead the company’s new Orlando office, overseeing hybrid MGA/brokerage placements of property and casualty risks across various sectors.
