CEO & Founder of Cadence Rx Selected as a 2022 Tampa Bay Businesswoman of the Year Honoree
Cadence Rx recently announced that its CEO and founder, Artemis Emslie, has been named a 2022 Businesswoman of the Year by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
Emslie has been dedicated to the pharmacy technology industry and mentorship over the past 25 years, according to a press release.
“There is no surprise here as Artemis is a true leader who people follow voluntarily,” Tim Howlin, chief sales and marketing officer at Cadence Rx, said.
“Her passion and influence for Cadence Rx and the community are about progress and vision. Her mentorship to me is immeasurable.”

Goldberg Segalla Expands Workers’ Compensation Team
Goldberg Segalla recently hired Alexis A. Close as an associate in the workers’ compensation group.
Close was previously with Collins and Collins in Buffalo, NY.
Close is responsible for counseling and defending employers, insurers, and third-party administrators in all stages of workers’ compensation litigation, from intake through trial and appeal.
A graduate of Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law at Barry University, Close also brings experience gained as a paralegal with private law firms to her new role at Goldberg Segalla.
McGriff Hires Marketing Account Executive for Energy Practice
McGriff has hired Betsy Knowles as a senior vice president and marketing account executive for its Birmingham, Ala.-based energy practice.
Based in Charlotte, N.C., Knowles joins McGriff with over 25 years of international experience in the energy, power, and utility industries.
According to a press release, she specializes in risk solutions for clients in offshore wind, nuclear power, utilities and renewables.
“We are honored that Betsy is joining our Energy team, bringing deep experience in the power and utilities industries and international insurance markets to help serve our global client base,” McGriff’s energy practice leader, Patrick Maguire, said.
Formerly an insurance and risk manager for Duke Energy, Knowles also served at two international insurance brokers as Asia regional director for construction, power and infrastructure. She also has experience in power marketing and trading at The Williams Companies.
Knowles is recognized for her experience placing complicated risks with Asian and global reinsurance markets. Most recently, she was head of specialty for Greater China.
Knowles holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
TigerRisk Welcomes New Partner and Head of Analytics, International
TigerRisk Partners LLC (Tiger Risk) has named Joel Hodges as partner and head of analytics, international. In the newly created role, Hodges will be responsible for overseeing all data analytics across all product lines at TigerRisk.
Hodges has more than 20 years of experience in the global reinsurance industry, including senior positions with Liberty Syndicates and Wellington Underwriting. He is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
He joins from Liberty Mutual, where he was head of portfolio management, global risk solutions.
“Joel is an outstanding reinsurance professional with fantastic analytical skills and will be a major asset to TigerRisk and our clients,” said James Few, chief executive officer of TigerRisk International.
“During his 15-year career at Liberty, he has held a number of senior roles and will help us to deliver our differentiating services in all lines of business on the international platform.”
CorVel Appoints Vice President of Enterprise Comp
CorVel has named Jeff Gurtcheff as vice president of enterprise comp. In his new role, Gurtcheff is expected to “refine product vision and strategy related to corporate goals and manage resources responsible for regulatory compliance, claims handling, quality, and standards and procedures,” per a press release.
“Jeff is an engaging leader with extensive experience supporting the risk management industry and is gifted at leading cross-functional teams to ensure the achievement of key objectives,” Michael Combs, president and CEO of CorVel, commented.
With more than 30 years of experience, Gurtcheff is said to bring “a deep understanding of the industry with strategic leadership and management expertise,” as highlighted in the release.
Gurtcheff joined CorVel in 2019 as vice president of national accounts and strategic insights.
Beazley Adds Members to the Cyber Services Team
Beazley recently made two senior leadership hires to its global cyber services team. Russ Cohen has been appointed head of U.S. cyber services, and Bala Larson joined as head of client experience.
Based in Philadelphia, Cohen will oversee risk management and incident response functions in the U.S. Out of Beazley’s San Francisco office, Larson will “work to ensure that Beazley continues delivering the best possible services to its cyber clients,” according to a press release.
Cohen was most recently with Chubb where he “pioneered the integration of digital servicing technologies to deliver cyber threat insights to customers,” per the release. He is also said to have played a pivotal role in the company’s enhanced incident response and loss mitigation service offerings.
Larson joined Beazley in 2007 as a middle market specialty lines underwriter. Currently, she manages the Northwest region.
“Both Russ and Bala bring a wealth of experience in the cybersecurity and technology space; exactly the kind of expertise that gives Beazley the edge when it comes to cyber risk and our evolving ecosystem,” Paul Bantick, global head of cyber and technology, said.

AmTrust Announces New Leadership Team of E&S Division
AmTrust Financial Services, Inc. (AmTrust) recently announced the formation of a new leadership team for their excess and surplus (E&S) division with senior vice president Erich Bublitz at the helm.
Dan Hickey, president of AmTrust Specialty Insurance, said, “I am very excited about the future of AmTrust’s E&S group and am confident that this team will increase our leadership position in the industry and further our reputation as a highly responsive E&S underwriter.”
Bublitz recently joined AmTrust from Admiral Insurance Group, where he served as the SVP of operations.
Shannon Piotrowski was promoted to vice president of the brokerage new business team. Previously, she was director of underwriting with responsibility for the Central and Southern new business teams.
Caseta Paul was promoted to vice president of the brokerage renewal team. Her role will be expanded with from managing the brokerage renewal team to “focusing on continuing to refine the book and ensure rate adequacy of renewals,” as noted in a press release.
Jackie Hennig will lead the unsupported excess team. She will be responsible for “building and leading the underwriting team, setting the underwriting strategy, and achieving underwriting profit objectives,” per the release. Previously, she was the leading production underwriter for the unit.
Christopher Fylak has been charged with expanding the binding platform. Having has served as an executive member of the E&S leadership team since 2017, he will continue in his role with an expanded focus on developing and enhancing AmTrust’s E&S binding platform. &
