Alvarez & Marsal Adds Two Managing Directors to Its Disputes and Investigation Practices

To further enhance its cross-border services across the Americas, Europe and Asia, global professional services firm, Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), recently added Dave Cappelina and Rich Fogarty as managing directors in the company’s disputes and investigation practice in their Washington, D.C. and New York/Miami locations, respectively.

While Fogarty will help lead A&M’s disputes and investigations capabilities for Latin America, Central America and the Caribbean, Cappellina will advise A&M’s clients on matters involving cross-border investigations and compliance monitoring.

With over 30 years of experience in forensic accounting, Cappellina has led U.S. and cross-border investigations and compliance projects, as well as developing and implementing investigative and anti-bribery and corruption-related methodologies.

Likewise, Fogarty has 20 years of investigative and legal experience in conducting investigations globally, spanning regulatory compliance, complex fraud, asset searches, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorist financing and supply chain and employee theft.

RT Specialty Promotes Jaime Lawson to Senior Account Manager 

Hamilton, NJ-based RT Specialty recently promoted Jaime Lawson to a senior account manager within its national environmental and construction professional liability practice (ECP).

Before joining RT Specialty, Lawson worked in a variety of roles at Liberty Insurance Associates, Haines and Haines/TC Irons Agency and Wesley Insurance Service Agency.

In her new role at RT Specialty, Hanson supports the company’s consultants and their efforts in providing risk management policies to brokers and agents throughout the U.S.

Mitch Cohen, vice president of ECP for RT Specialty said, “Jaime’s work ethic and team approach have won the admiration of both her colleagues and our customers.

North P&I Club Appoints New Senior Leadership

As part of its ongoing succession planning and strategic development initiatives, North P&I Club made various changes to its senior leadership team.

Specifically, Savraj Mehta is in the new role of chief commercial officer; Thya Kathiravel has been appointed as chief underwriting officer; Steve Rebair and Simon Main have been appointed as deputy global directors; and Mike Salthouse and Matt Moore are now deputy global directors (claims) and are playing a bigger role in the day-to-day delivery of the company’s P&I claims service.

Their roles will cover geographic and technical team responsibilities, loss prevention and various IG P&I committees and pool claims.

Mehta joined North P&I Club in 1995, having spent 12 years at sea becoming a master before working onshore as a marine superintendent and operations manager.

Kathiravel, Rebair and Main have become well known as experts in their field, and Salthouse and Moore have more than 50 years combined experience working in P&I.

Chris Ward Appointed VP of Distribution Management at GuideOne Insurance

Chris Ward recently joined GuideOne Insurance as vice president of distribution management. Prior to joining GuideOne, Ward served as assistant vice president of sales and distribution at CNA Financial Corporation.

In his new role with GuideOne, Ward is responsible for creating and executing the overall distribution strategy for the organization, soliciting new partnerships and developing and managing key relationships.

Ward brings a wealth of experience in building business units and teams, strategic planning, sales and marketing, mergers and acquisitions and reinsurance.

Coalition Hires Brian Specht as the Head of Affinity

Coalition, a cyber insurance company for small and mid-size businesses, is adding Brian Specht as the head of affinity. Based in New York City and Austin, in his new role, Specht will be overseeing the company’s affinity partnerships.

“Brian will serve as an integral part of our leadership team. His proven excellence in leading affinity partnerships will allow us to deliver cyber security protection and coverage to an even broader spectrum of businesses and industries,” said Joshua Motta, Coalition’s CEO.

As the former chief underwriting officer and chief broking officer at Aon Affinity U.S., the consumer, association and program business of Aon Risk Solutions, Specht oversaw the executive of broking and underwriting capabilities across Aon Affinity.

In addition to his former role at Aon, Specht has served in positions at Ryan Specialty Group, Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, AIG and Chubb — bringing more than 30 years of experience to his new role at Coalition.
