Zurich U.S. Names Alex Wells CEO
Zurich U.S. named Alex Wells its new CEO, effective immediately, pending customary approvals.
“Alex has deep expertise in large global accounts and midmarket customers, wholesale casualty and specialty verticals, and he has managed different distribution models,” said Mario Greco, group chief executive officer of Zurich Insurance Group. “He has a strong track record of delivering results, developing talent and helping teams perform at their best. His appointment positions us to build on the progress made in recent years.”
Wells steps into the role following the departure of Sierra Signorelli. He previously served as president of Zurich U.S. Middle Market, Programs, Captives and Direct Markets — the largest business within Zurich U.S. — and sat on the Zurich U.S. Executive Committee. A commercial insurance veteran with over 25 years of experience, Wells also held senior leadership roles at Chubb and ACE before joining Zurich in 2020.
Over the past six years leading Zurich’s Middle Market business, Wells drove double-digit growth while expanding underwriting and risk engineering capabilities and strengthening local market presence. Wells will be based at Zurich U.S. headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois. A new Middle Market leader is expected to be announced soon. &
