RIMS Announces 2025 Risk Manager of Year Recipient, Risk Management Honor Roll Inductee

RIMS has named Hyatt Hotels Corp.’s Jennifer Pack as 2025 Risk Manager of the Year and Eli Lilly & Co.’s Mark Saltsgaver to its Risk Management Honor Roll, recognizing their transformative contributions to enterprise risk management and business resilience.
The recognition of Pack and Saltsgaver highlights how modern risk executives are reshaping their organizations’ approaches to uncertainty, according to RIMS, which will present these awards at its 2025 annual conference.
RIMS detailed the achievements that won recognition for the two risk professionals from the panel of judges comprising previous honorees and other risk management and insurance leaders:
Jennifer Pack: RIMS Risk Manager of the Year: Pack, who leads a team of nearly 40 professionals as Hyatt’s vice president of risk management, has aligned the company’s risk strategies with its evolving business model in today’s complex environment, according to RIMS.
Her achievements include redesigning Hyatt’s disability and workers’ compensation programs, shifting from a decentralized to centralized approach. This initiative reduced manual processing by up to 80,000 hours, improved compliance, reduced legal exposure, and delivered millions in savings.
“Jennifer Pack has transformed risk management at Hyatt, embedding a culture that has provided a launchpad for organizational success,” said RIMS CEO Gary A. LaBranche.
Pack’s work at Hyatt addresses key risks including social inflation and cybersecurity that could impact the organization across diverse distribution channels.
Under her leadership, Hyatt’s risk management team is overhauling the hotel chain’s fire safety measures, the press release stated. They’ve established a first-of-its-kind Fire Life Safety Compliance and Governance Program that sets new standards for the organization and industry. This initiative includes implementing new technology and auditing all 1,450 Hyatt hotels across 79 countries.
Mark Saltsgaver: RIMS Risk Management Honor Roll: Similarly, Saltsgaver’s nearly 35-year tenure at Eli Lilly has resulted in a world-class global risk management function that supports 46,000 employees across 100 countries. His risk financing vision leverages captive insurance with structured reinsurance, identifying new opportunities while reducing Eli Lilly’s total cost of risk by millions of dollars.
Saltsgaver’s team at Eli Lilly is modernizing the delivery and performance of certificate of insurance demands for the company’s multi-billion-dollar clinical trial research business. This endeavor includes mapping the end-to-end certificate of insurance process. Once complete, the project is estimated to eliminate over 20,000 manual touchpoints, significantly improving productivity and quality.
“Mark Saltsgaver’s ability to develop impactful relationships across Eli Lilly and with external stakeholders demonstrates the undeniable value of having strong risk management leadership,” LaBranche said.
The Risk Manager of the Year program, initiated in 1977 with the Risk Management Honor Roll added in 1981, aims to raise the profile of the risk management profession and highlight outstanding programs implemented within organizations. Recipients are chosen by an independent panel made up of former honorees and other risk management leaders.
