In May of 2021, pharmacy benefit manager myMatrixx released its annual Drug Trend Report. This perennial fixture outlines a welcome decline in opioid use in workers’ comp case files and the emergence of new “specialty” drugs that payers would do well to educate themselves about. The report also describes a COVID-19 Distortion effect on the statistics of overall drug spend in workers’ comp claims.

In this one-hour webinar, John Ruser, PhD, the president and CEO of the Workers’ Compensation Research Institute, will present data that looks at pharmacy spend pre-COVID-19, linking that to trends that will persist even after the pandemic has receded. In turn, Phil Walls, the chief clinical officer of myMatrixx, will present up-to-date information on claims managed by myMatrixx, providing a snapshot of pharmacy use and spend that payers will be responsible for in 2021. With this new data, what will the workers’ comp claims landscape look like in as we head into 2022?

Rather than engage in a “Battle of the PowerPoints” the two executives will discuss these issues in a lively, informed dialogue that will be sure to advance the audience’s awareness of key factors that are impacting pharmacy use and spend in workers’ compensation.
