AXA XL named Libby Benet to lead its newly created prevention business unit, effective May 13, 2026, making it the company’s fifth business unit alongside Americas, APAC & Europe, UK & Lloyd’s and Reinsurance.

“Libby’s deep underwriting expertise, global perspective and client focus give her a clear vision to shape and scale this business,” said Scott Gunter, CEO of AXA XL.

Benet currently serves as Global Chief Underwriting Officer, a role she has held since 2022. She joined AXA XL in 2020 as Chief Underwriting Officer for Cyber and previously managed her own consultancy, holding leadership positions at Beazley, General Insurance and Zurich earlier in her career.

“Our clients are looking for more than risk transfer—they want partners who can help them anticipate, prevent and mitigate risk,” Benet said.

The new unit will combine data, analytics and technology with AXA XL’s risk engineering and advisory expertise to address risks including climate, supply chain disruption, cyber threats and operational resilience. AXA’s 2025 Future Risks Report found that 86% of experts believe the most pressing risks could be at least partially avoided through preventive measures. &
