Leadership skills need to be dynamic, enlarging and expanding to fit the current needs of the workforce and industry. And while certain skills are timeless, like empathy and active listening, the nuances of leadership skills shift with technological changes and generational differences.

This is why it is critical for leaders at every stage of their career to update and upskill their leadership abilities and knowledge frequently. The CPCU Society makes this possible through their annual In2Leadership event, which brings together insurance professionals and graduate-level professors for two days of leadership education, discussion, and practical application.

This year, In2Leadership will be held April 28-29 in Nashville in partnership with the University of Georgia Terry College of Business Executive Education. Attendees will learn from professors and industry leaders in courses focused on team dynamics, resilience, and leading through digital transformation.

Professors Kachi Ekwerike, Lecturer at the Institute for Leadership Advancement at University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business; Steve Nedvidek, Instructor, Innovation Coach and Consultant at University of Georgia’s Executive Education Program; and Aaron Schecter, Associate Professor, Department of Management Information Systems at University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business will be on site facilitating a rotating schedule of three courses, allowing attendees to learn from each course and professor.

In2Leadership offers a unique experience combining insight, inspiration, and professional growth. “This isn’t another conference—it’s a catalyst,” said Elaine George, CPCU, President and Chair of the CPCU Society Leadership Council.

“You’ll build real relationships, sharpen your leadership toolkit, learn from global thought leaders, and walk away energized to elevate yourself, your chapter, your organization, and your career. If you’re ready to stretch, grow, and step boldly into what’s next, In2Leadership is where you need to be.”

Curated Leadership Content and Trending Industry Insights

In2Leadership strives to create a leadership training experience that gives professionals an opportunity to take courses taught by university professors on trending topics. The partnership with the University of Georgia Terry College of Business Executive Education means attendees learn from current research and hear insights from professors who are experts in their respective fields.

This year’s event  will include a keynote closing session featuring Grammy-nominated songwriter Lee Thomas Miller. He’ll connect the dots between leading high-performing teams and writing hit songs in a presentation that should close the conference on a high note.

Three courses from the University of Georgia form the foundation of the event:

  • Enhancing Team Effectiveness, taught by Dr. Ekwerike, is an immersive two-hour workshop that goes beyond theory to hands-on practice focused on topics like leading virtual and hybrid teams, building psychological safety that unlocks innovation and candor, and applying practical frameworks to lead more effectively across differences.
  • Resilience and Leading Through Ambiguity, facilitated by Steve Nedvidek, former Innovator-in-Residence at Chick-fil-A, will explore how to build personal resilience under stress, navigate ambiguity with confidence, transform uncertainty into opportunity using adaptive leadership, and foster resilient organizational cultures by using multiple case studies, group discussions, and a workshop-style dynamic.
  • Understanding and Leading Digital Transformation, facilitated by Professor Aaron Schecter, brings together research and insights from 20,000+ global executives and 300+ digital transformation leaders to achieve practical transformation, moving beyond buzzwords to actionable strategy. Attendees will learn to leverage emerging technologies like AI, build agile and resilient organizations, cultivate digital maturity through leadership, and implement scenario planning for long-term success.

The conference will also feature several practical sessions designed to help individuals become better volunteer leaders with sessions on event planning, engaging members, improving communications, the foundations of leadership, and developing growing leaders.

The opening general session will feature Debbie Plager, Founder and CEO of The Plager Group and moderator Nicole Reigl, Head of Enterprise Education Strategy at The Institutes. They will cover a new crucial leadership skill; managing complexity in a polycrisis world. Learn how horizontal and vertical development will help leaders manage multiple crises like cyber-attacks, the looming talent shortage, and climate events that challenge global geopolitical stability. The first day concludes with the “Best Boot Forward” networking event, one of many opportunities for attendees to meet new colleagues.

In2Leadership is an event that is designed carefully to meet the needs of leaders at various stages of their career. With foundational sessions and mentorship opportunities, new leaders will find helpful resources as they develop their skills. Mid-career leaders will benefit from workshops allowing them to practice new ideas and discuss challenges with peers, and executives will find exciting opportunities to mentor and offer insights gained from experience.
