Laurent Richème Named Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Property at AXA XL

AXA XL appointed Laurent Richème as global chief underwriting officer, property, effective May 19, 2026. In the role, he will lead the global underwriting strategy for the company’s Property, Construction and Energy businesses, working closely with regional underwriting teams.

“Laurent’s deep technical expertise, market knowledge and collaborative approach make him exceptionally well positioned to support our clients and drive the continued development of our Property, Construction & Energy businesses,” said Libby Benet, global chief underwriting officer at AXA XL.

Richème brings more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and risk engineering industry. He joined AXA Corporate Solutions in 2008 and held several senior underwriting leadership roles, including head of international property and, most recently, chief underwriting officer, property, energy and construction for APAC and Europe at AXA XL since 2021.

Richème succeeds Juergen Cherreck, who will retire in July after 21 years at AXA XL. &
