Ziad Alex Tadmoury joined FM in 1989. It’s doubtful anyone there wants him to leave anytime soon. In January, Tadmoury took over as an executive vice president, overseeing operations for EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), Asia Pacific, Canada and Specialties.

He is also responsible for FM Affliated, FM’s middle market insurance division. For the record, this marks the 35th year that Tadmoury has been with FM. “FM has given me a remarkable range of opportunities and experiences throughout my career,” Tadmoury said.

“For me, collaborating with clients around the world to protect their purpose has been extremely rewarding. I am passionate about what FM stands for, and it is now part of who I am. My fondest memories are of working with colleagues and nurturing raw talent at the farthest ends of our geographies. I am especially appreciative of the people FM has allowed me to meet and the relationships I have developed with clients and brokers. I am immensely grateful for the many friendships,” he said.

As we said in our introduction to this feature, there are many opportunities in commercial insurance. You just need to know where to look. Some carriers look to the U.S. FM, well known in the U.S., is also looking abroad. “We see prospects throughout our global footprint,” Tadmoury said.

“FM has deep roots and strong penetration in the United States and Canada, and we still have an opportunity to grow in both markets with several products. Outside of North America we are yet to be as well recognized. We have vast opportunity internationally to reach many more organizations that share our vision and the challenges ahead. Our unique science- and research-based approach to loss prevention makes a real difference,” he added.

Differentiation matters. So does the ability to be nimble and opportunistic. “Over the last several years, we have seen insurers pull away from risk in many parts of the world — and from climate risks in particular,” Tadmoury said.

“At FM, we believe we need to move in the opposite direction and are leaning into it with science, innovation, tools, and tailored services. We are focusing on partnering with our clients to build resilience into their operations and we know we can make a difference.” &
