WTW Broker Ned Kaufman Recognized as a 2026 Consumer Products Power Broker
Ned Kaufman, Excess Liability Industries Leader, Director – Umbrella/Excess, WTW
After several years of pressure, the risk manager for a national retailer was reluctantly preparing to accept an exclusion for PFAS exposures in the company’s excess liability tower. “Some of the markets basically said that they were going to impose it,” the risk manager said.
Ned Kaufman leveraged market relationships to restructure the company’s tower so that it preserved coverage of PFAS – and he came in under budget on premiums.
“That was a really good result for us. We were expecting a far worse renewal,” said the risk manager. “I’ve been really impressed with him.”
He has been successful, for example, at conveying the retailer’s minimal exposure to PFAS and advocating on its behalf, the risk manager said.
“He doesn’t accept ‘no,’ and I really appreciate that.”
Clients also appreciate Kaufman’s ability to produce options, which helped a food distribution company with a truck fleet. The company was staring at a big premium hike in 2025 following sizable jury verdicts against other trucking firms involved in accidents.
Kaufman came up with several options, said the company’s risk manager. The end result was coverage that met the company’s budget constraints.
“He does a really good job of making sure they understand we’re different,” the risk manager said.
