Marsh Broker Brian Gauss Recognized as a 2021 Workers’ Comp Power Broker
Brian Gauss, Senior Vice President – Claims, Marsh
The best brokers strive to become their clients’ strongest business partners by crafting insurance solutions, looking for ways to save and helping troubleshoot should a loss arise.
This year, Brian Gauss has proven to be one of his clients’ strongest allies. For one client with a large number of claims, Gauss found that its TPA wasn’t aggressively pursuing the Worker’s Compensation Second Injury Fund as a means of recovery.
To remedy the problem, Gauss set up weekly calls between his client and the TPA to identify claims that could benefit from second injury recovery funds. So far, this effort has helped the client receive more than $1 million in second injury recovery funds.
“He really is the key partner and all of our oversight,” the client said.
Gauss isn’t just an ally in claims review. Another client noted, since COVID-19, Gauss has been her number one resource.
At the onset of the pandemic, he called each of his clients to make sure they were able to keep their workforce safe.
Then, he jumped into action, crafting an individual plan for every client on how to handle COVID-19 claims should they arise.
“With COVID, I am just swamped. He really helps by taking on some of those initiatives,” said Sandi Adkins, senior claims manager, Schneider National, Inc.
“He is always challenging himself to continue to learn, challenge the status quo in the industry, and be a force for positive change.”
