In an era of supply chain disruptions and ballooning lead times for key components, project timelines often get scrambled.
“The construction phase of our project was delayed,” said one risk manager, “but we still needed to place the marine liability program, because a limited amount [of] activity would still be taking place. I was resigned to placing the program at the full premium even though the exposure was reduced for a period. “Without any prompting from me,” the risk manager continued, “Alisha [Wood Graves] negotiated with underwriters and secured reduced premiums for the period of limited activity producing a saving in the region of 60%. What particularly impressed me about Alisha’s approach was that she did not wait to be asked but rather took the initiative and put in the extra effort to get the best outcome for us.”
Another client needed some urgent work done underwater. Only a few markets write marine employers’ liability specifically for dive work, and even fewer were willing to consider the risk on short notice.
Under pressure to bind coverage for the timeconstrained project, Wood Graves took a step back and was able to find a broad policy for a premium of about a quarter of the quotes for the specialized coverage.
“Alisha worked tirelessly to make sure we had all the marine coverages we needed,” said the risk manager. “We often don’t give her a lot of time to turn around requests, and she is able to get what we need done completed in time.”
