Lockton Broker Rachel Anderson Recognized as a 2026 Education & Nonprofit Power Broker
Rachel Anderson, Account Executive, Lockton
An extra bill for workers’ comp coverage prompted a cascade of questions from clients of Rachel Anderson.
They learned that, after an audit, the carrier assigned different codes to the administrative staff of the organizations, a group of faith-based nonprofits enrolled in the same captive. The nonprofits did not believe the new codes were appropriate, according to the general counsel for one of the organizations: “They just sort of assigned it based on faith-based organizations, but not on what these [places] were actually doing,” said the general counsel.
When the nonprofits pushed back, he said, the carrier continued to defend its auditor. But Anderson pressed the fight for nearly eight months and ultimately prevailed. The carrier assigned a new auditor. “It was a major win,” said the general counsel. And it wasn’t only about the premium savings.
“That’s helpful, obviously. You don’t want to pay for more than you need to, but it’s getting it right and being determined that if it’s not right, we need to find another way. That was what impressed me.”
Anderson’s persistence also impressed Merrill Littlejohn, executive adviser to and former CFO of Samaritan’s Purse. Anderson’s efforts have helped extend its medical malpractice insurance to the U.S., where the nonprofit has ramped up clinical services. The extension raised some concerns among the nonprofit’s insurers, Littlejohn said.
But Anderson was able to navigate the challenges and bring carriers on board.
