When one of Jeremy Gayser’s clients made an acquisition that included assets not previously insured by commercial markets, it made underwriters uneasy.

Gayser collaborated with the client to select an engineering firm to conduct a site visit for loss control, understanding the critical role of this information-gathering process. Once the firm was chosen, he worked alongside the local operations team to prepare them for the loss control visit — a process they were unfamiliar with due to their lack of prior insurance coverage in the commercial market.

The site visit was successful, but after it was completed, Gayser had only 30 days to negotiate an agreement to integrate the newly acquired assets mid-policy in a challenging property market. The loss control report proved to be instrumental in securing an agreement to include the acquired assets from the insurers.

“I would highly recommend Jeremy,” one client said. “Our property program was a challenging placement this year, and Jeremy led the effort to take a fresh look at how we financed our risk. That led to significant changes to the structure and limits of our program. We joined an industry mutual and started a captive to use as a vehicle to finance the increased retentions that we were going to take.

“Overall, this led to significant savings with increased overall limits on our program,” the risk manager added. “Managing market relationships was very important through all the changes, and Jeremy and his team were able to keep all our incumbents on the program.”
