Broker Sara Kane gives her alternative energy clients her all, enabling them to tackle some of their top challenging projects even as the COVID-19 pandemic brought shakeups to nearly every industry.

“In a challenging market for property coverage for solar projects, and in the midst of the pandemic, she worked strong relationships with carriers to deliver a quote markedly better than most markets,” said one financial executive.

“That allowed us to proceed with the acquisition of the largest project completed to date in our portfolio. Later, when a separate project suffered storm damage, she stayed involved with our team as we navigated a complicated situation with potential workmanship claims and provided invaluable and commercially-minded guidance for our team.”

Many insureds this year reported reduced capacities and some reluctance to renew, but one client faced a cut and run.

“We had a two-year policy,” said the asset manager, “but the carrier argued that we had a ‘material incident’ and wriggled out of the second year. So we had to renew after one year. Sara guided that process, working with carriers in the U.S., London and across Europe. We struggled to get quotes anywhere near what we had, but she was able to place coverage that was at least reasonable.”
