Aon Broker Michael McCoy Recognized as a 2025 At Large Power Broker
Michael McCoy, Managing Director/Casualty Brokerage Leader, Aon
After taking over a new account mid-year, Michael McCoy noted several issues and inconsistencies. He directed a complete program review of the client’s coverages and discovered challenging exposures and loss history, including a full limits loss on the primary casualty with penetration into the umbrella/excess liability tower.
Due to the loss, it was unclear if the lead umbrella broker would remain on the account at renewal. McCoy worked with the primary casualty carrier to expand wording to remove conditions and exclusions, negotiated a more aggressive review of the collateral held by the incumbent carrier, and removed the workers’ comp corridor deductible while also securing a net rate decrease on the program.
The end result from this program review and correction of the inefficiencies was 8% renewal exposure growth while eliminating an unnecessary corridor deductible on the workers’ comp policy, expanded and improved terms and conditions to remove all coverage gaps, reduced collateral requirements, and increased excess liability limits — while reducing the client’s total cost of risk by over $500,000.
“His product knowledge is second to none and his willingness to be client-focused is something unusual in the market,” his client noted. “No other broker that handles my business is as well versed in what he places than Mike on market conditions. Michael McCoy is not only an incredible broker, but more importantly an honorable man.”
