Aon Broker Grant Dethlefsen Recognized as a 2026 Cyber Power Broker
Grant Dethlefsen, Vice President, Aon

Aon, Los Angeles
Crafting cyber insurance protections becomes increasingly difficult when a client can face perception issues in the marketplace. Such was the case with a client which faced geopolitical challenges due to the country of origin of its ownership.
Grant Dethlefsen saw the challenges in securing coverage where others had failed. Before Aon took over the account, the company was unable to get a viable insurance program placed and was paying large premiums for what some would have considered illusory coverage.
Ten months prior to renewal, Dethlefsen adopted a strategy of prioritizing transparency and engaging in candid leadership dialogue with key insurers. He also took the unorthodox approach of allowing the client to communicate its business and risks to the market through extensive pre-recorded videos, government reviews and legal findings, transcripts from the Department of Justice and carefully planned in-person discussions.
By leveraging these resources, Dethlefsen could better articulate his client’s exposures to carriers and maintain consistent messaging for a client battling an adverse public narrative. Ultimately, the broker was able to secure limits at a multiple of 10 times than what the client had just a year prior.
